[B2] - Qua, a definition by example, a principle of understanding,. My second album with Leicester based multi instrumentalist Jim Tetlow - our first major work together. We both have backgrounds steeped in Electronic, Electroacoustic, and Experimental music in the Avant-garde and Contemporary Classical; this was then a show piece to discover ourselves as a serious studio collaboration. It sets the tone of ingenuity and difficulty of much of our music. Qua a landmark of fluidity and elegance standing at the outset of an interesting period in both our careers. We like to say it cycles with manifold intersecting lines of detail in fractalinial unfolding, as if approaching. It rewards close listening. Cover Art by Jim Tetlow.

Jim Tetlow said in letter to me in IF-DCM 18. 9. 23

“We have a fine body of collaborative work behind us, but if I could thank you endlessly for just one work, it would be this, actually our first.

A piece which "cycles with manifold intersecting lines of detail in fractalinial unfolding, as if approaching"... but never actually getting there, for it's there already. As if it's always been there and always will be as if were a field recording of natural phenomena, calm as a millpond, growing to churning harmonic activity and back again. No mere 'drone' piece, this was made without synthesizers of any kind, in fact its source recording was completely acoustic and not even an instrument (but the source will remain a guarded secret and pulling back the curtain will not help anyone).

[B1] Live at Bambu - I came down to Leicester’s Bambu club to see Endgame play - the Band of the legendary freeman Brothers of Ultima Thule records - the Label and the shop [which I had been visiting for years]. Maria Finch - percussionist on many of my own albums drove me down and told me go and meet the other guy in the band - a tall, thin, longhaired guy much younger than the Freeman Brothers - the Peter Baumann of the group. As I we could have been twins and the Next week, same place - I was on stage with them - the album is my Master of our performance.
