Tetlow & Broadhurst Arkiv - Bridges Before Us - Bomb Run to Berlin - live Uncut.
I said to Jim as I began to write this British Library Edition of our work, that I’d love to create an Arkiv album for us, to fill the 20th slot on our discography. There are a couple of pieces I have included in my General archive - the 12 disc set that is my album number 113 - ‘A Box of Delights - but no dedicated Arkiv album of our own. I looked hard through my own archives and found this - the uncut live tape which became ‘Bridges Above Us’ our 5th album - polished for performance - where we ‘knew’ people would be listening.
This is us without that foreknowledge. Here we are warts and sorts - live to ‘Take’ in a windy concrete road tunnel Under Normandy Way, south of Elmsthorpe - south of Leicester. A windy, loud, reverberation, of drums in a concrete box - Like a Bombing Run to Berlin on windy night. We talk - we comment - we are there in the Seminal moment of discovering - us. A real Archiv piece as vivid as any film footage - Top and Tale of our younger selves.
This is Not a twentieth album - it is our acknowledgement - as our future selves of those Hungry Years - when music was all around us - ripe yet for the picking.
